Facebook announced that
it had acquired the instant messaging application "WhatsApp” in a deal
estimated at $16 billion dollars divided between the amount paid in cash and
the shares in the company that owns the largest social network on the Internet.
Facebook will pay the
amount of $12 billion as shares, while four billion dollars will be paid in
cash, according to the report submitted by the company to the Securities and
Exchange Commission.
As part of the deal, the
working group of "WhatsApp" will join the Facebook, where Mark
Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook and its chief executive, confirmed that
"WhatsApp" will operate independently within the company.
It is noteworthy that
"WhatsApp" was announced last December for the arrival of the number
of users of the application to the 400 million monthly active users.
