One of the bad properties of Window 8 is that you must boot to
Metro Start menu then you can go to desktop if you want.
In Windows 8.1 Microsoft changed this property and you can now
bypassing the Metro Start screen and boot directly to desktop. to enable this
feature, follow these steps:
1- Right click on the taskbar and choose
Properties.
2- Click on Navigation tab.
3- Check the box "Go to the desktop instead
of Start when I sign in", then click OK.
4- Restart the computer to apply changes, and you can now boot to desktop directly instead of Metro menu.
